{everyday beautiful life: makeunder my life}

Our guest today, Jess Constable, has one of the most refreshing blogs out. Her blog, Makeunder My Life, is all about what she calls “designing a life with intention.” The idea is to scale back in order to focus on what you really want. In no way does this mean being a minimalist, but instead, it seems to me that this is about finding a happy balance for every person. All this makes here an ideal guest for our Everyday Beautiful Life series. Here, Jess shares 5 things that make her life everyday beautiful.

1- Erwin – Erwin, my boyfriend is a constant source of smiles and support.

2 – Chevron Paintings – These paintings were a great DIY that were super easy but also add glam to my studio. I love looking at them everyday while I work. This pattern has actually inspired my new Spring jewelry collection coming out in April as well.

3 – Flowers – I have a weakness for buying a mixed bouquet at Trader Joes and then putting each type of flower in it’s own mini-vase and scattering them around my apartment. It spreads the beauty to four or five different spots.

4 – Noble Tree – This is a great coffee shop to do work. I love the indie-vibe and eclectic decorating.

5 – Cheesy Oatmeal – Though it certainly may not look beautiful to most, I adore adding cheese to steel cut oats for breakfast with pepper flakes. It’s something I look forward to every morning and brightens my day.

{for the love of cotton & silk}

The weather is still cool out, which is perfect for a blanket and book on the beach. Despite having been born Floridian, I prefer to spend a breezy, not too hot day at the beach in a silk dress or cotton tunic. Setting aside my hatred for the heat, I must admit that the benefit to living in South Florida {and not having a dress code for work} is that I can indulge in my romantic, beachy, piscean style.

Maybe it’s because of where I was born that I have little willpower to resist anything of gauzy cotton or washed silk, especially in pleats or ruched. Anything in white, cream, or pale rose easily wins my heart. So, when presented with a combination of these, I simply swoon.

{everyday beautiful life: dream sequins}

Today’s guest is Editor-in-Chief of Dream Sequins, Deanne Yee. Dream Sequins began in 2008 and covers emerging fashion and boutiques across the globe. Check her blog for some backstage looks of NYFW, beauty reviews, and all things fashionable. Here are a few things that this stylish guest finds beautiful.

I love the verses of Edna St. Vincent Millay. She lived this passionate inner and outer life and was the first woman to win a Pulitzer for poetry.


The beaches of Thailand. We took a boat tour of some of those far off islands near Phuket. I won’t forget the temperature of the water and the clarity of it… True beauty.


Hair accessories. Right now I am mad for them.

A good solid writing instrument. I am not talking about iPhones or laptops. I want a nice heavy pen to write real, considerate notes and letters to friends.

Dark red lipstick. My wardrobe has gotten very light and unexpectedly colorful lately. So I love pairing these innocent looks with a darker lip.
