What is it with those Aussie’s?

Besides having some incredible bloggers, there’s yet another amazingly wearable line coming from the land down under. Meet MyPetSquare, bringing you Paris via Australia. The new Cine Collection is inspired by the French New Wave and is the very definition of effortless chic. {Aren’t you already picturing Emma Watson in one of these with her new Jean Seberg crop?} Best of all? They ship worldwide.

Intimate & On Display

“…the act of displaying what is meant to be intimate is seductive and decidedly feminine.”

null

There’s something beautiful in showing off things that are meant to be on the inside or underneath. A sliver of silk or a frill of lace peeking out from under a skirt, a satin strap slipping off the shoulder, it all suggests the possibility of being undressed, of another layer, and of intimacy.

Whether it be emotions, secrets, skin, fears, or a garter, the act of displaying what is meant to be intimate is seductive and decidedly feminine. It’s powerful, inviting, flirtatious, and delicate. In our dress, the effect ranges from daring to innocent to modest. {The last being a sign of the times in the fact that so many women skip the garters or slips.} In the home, taking something lovely that is usually kept in the closet or lingerie chest and placing it on the wall or by the window for all to see gives a room a playful, whimsical effect. And, in our relationships, the result can be devastatingly beautiful and empowering.

{edison bulbs}

Despite the fact that most of the lights in my home have been converted to CFL’s, I still have a big space in my heart for the warm glow of an old fashion filament bulb. It seems I’m not the only one missing the curls of glowing filament. Edison bulbs, also known as reproduction bulbs, are enjoying a revival. While they don’t come cheap {sometimes costing $20 a bulb}, there’s really nothing like their warmth and visual appeal.

If you’re interested, Rejuvenation has a whole host of reproduction bulbs, from 1920’s style handpainted gold globes to the classic tungsten or carbon filament bulbs. And, for those looking for a greener option, Plumen makes a gorgeous bulb, suitable for exposed bulb fixtures or cages.

A little belle du jour kitten hair and lady like trench will never get old and are perfect for a fall day. For the evening, a camel colored cocktail dress, sky high heels, and a smattering of gems. So how to get the hair? Grab your rollers, a can of spray, and a rat-tail comb. Roll. Release. Tease. Spray…. or subscribe to this blog for a video tutorial and holiday glam guide.

{friday finds: ring, ring!}

Loving the raw, earthy edge of these amazing rings by Satomi Kawakita. Her rings come in a beautiful variety of one and two finger designs, with or without stones, some being one-of-a-kind. She also makes necklaces and bracelets that are equally as cool and pretty. That grey diamond {yes, that’s a diamond} is officially on my wishlist.

A little outrageous is okay sometimes. It’s the occasional glamorous splurge that makes us feel like we’re living a little richly. Treat yourself to something indulgent this weekend, whether it be chocolate, a glass of champagne, or a day in bed. Speaking of indulging…

Congratulations to Jess Graves! I know Jess reads the blog and has been following me on twitter for quite some time. She also knows her DVF stuff and did a great job explaining her outfit.

No doubt, the Laetitia dress.

First of all, love that the print is vintage from the dvf archives. second, i’m completely obsessing over hunter greens this winter.. so on par with the deep plums and vampy wine reds we are seeing. i think i’d paint my nails in chanel’s “gondola” (it totally reminds me of 90′s 90210/silk stalkings!) and rock this dress with black tights. plus, when it gets colder, it would be great with a fur vest thrown over or a great black coat — so transitional! i could even see it in summer with a gold strappy sandal! so obsessed.”

Thanks to all who entered and have a gorgeous weekend!
