{vanity fair}

Just saw the most recent cover for Vanity Fair…

… and it reminded me of another favorite hollywood spread for VF: the 2008 hollywood cover with the hitchcock spread inside.

I always look forward to these. The girls look so well styled and timeless. These are the type of covers you look back on years from now and think “iconic.”

{promo: dace & dallas shaw}

Dace has commissioned Dallas Shaw to create 5 different fashion illustrations of models wearing Dace pieces from the spring 2010 collection.

Dace will be giving away these prints to everyone that purchases something from the new collection online (while supplies last). The first 3 customers to purchase something after the mailer goes out will get originals!

{pink & tulle}

It is my firm opinion that every woman should own a dress that makes her feel like a princess at some point in her life. Even better if the dress is not a wedding dress.

{a bit of dior}

I love the intimate presentation that the house has chosen. I find it far more interesting than the majority of current shows where a blank faced model saunters down a long runway and simply turns back at the end. The expressions on the Dior model’s faces are fun and, at times, cheeky. Not to mention that all the images from the show are far more interesting. Remember all the images that appeared after the fall shows? Who didn’t love the pictures of the models outside the Avenue Montaigne headquarters or this shot of a model looking down at the crowd?

{chanel & a bit of history}

Say what you want about Karl Lagerfeld, but you must admit he’s a design genius. Chanel has always been about the details and finishing; Karl is certainly continuing that legacy.

With all the hype around Chanel last year, both current and past {think Coco Chanel movies}, it’s hard to imagine Chanel as anything but extraordinary and luxurious. That wasn’t always the case, particularly in the time between Gabrielle Coco Chanel’s death and the time that Lagerfeld stepped in.

The Chanel we know today is the direct result of Alan Wertheimer and the outrageous Lagerfeld. Wertheimer is responsible for persuading Lagerfeld to jump ship at Chloe and join Chanel. It is because of Wertheimer that Chanel No. 5 is en vogue again; it was once selling at drugstores and considered out of date. Interesting, no?

{under the same sky}

Ever think how we all look into the sky in wonder and amazement? It’s a universal fascination. Nature ties us together more than we think…
