{just a few more days…}

I’m excited for my little trip to NYC. There’s always that mix of anticipation and “omg, what if…” that gets me going before a trip. I’m still figuring out where I’m staying. I found a great place in Chelsea and another one in Midtown. Jesse of Morning Passages, whom I played with in elementary school, invited me to stay with her in Brooklyn. I’m not sure if to split my time by staying in Brooklyn for a few days and then Manhattan, or if to just stick in one spot.

I’ve been struck by fortune as two of my closest friends will be in town at the same time, completely by accident. B, whose wedding you will probably see on this blog come February, and Sasha of Little Pink Book will both be in NYC this weekend. I’ll be hanging out with Judy of Sunday Brunch. {Joy!} I’m also planning on brunch with Sasha and Lis of The Beauty File.

I’ve got a nice list of activities. I tend to make a plan to then throw it all to hell and go with the flow if it strikes me. But, I like to have my plan.. just in case.

Visit:
The Met
Find some good Jazz {Suggestions?}
The Guggenheim
Brooklyn Botanical
Brooklyn Heights
Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters
Central Park {Belvedere Castle}
The Highline

Shops:
Other than Topshop, I’ll be visiting boutiques and thrifts only, since I can find just about anything else I’d want in Florida with cheaper tax. {Suggestions welcome!}

Eats:
Smoke Jazz
NAYA
The Little Owl
GoBo
Nolita House
100 acre
Dirt Candy
Falai
Scarpetta

Other than that, I’ll be wandering around playing explorer and hoping to get photographed by the Sartorialist. {Ha!} Maybe I’ll wear a crown like Max of Where the Wild Things Are. What do you think?

{bit of beauty: dandelions}

I’m not quite sure why, but I rarely ever see dandelions around here. My guess is it’s either the climate or all weed killers they put on the lawns here. I never understood why grown-ups got so flustered if I blew on a dandelion as a kid. “Don’t do that, they’ll be everywhere!”, they’d say. I thought it was a fabulous idea. I still do.

{great read: the locust and the bird}

Random House/Pantheon sent over a few books to be reviewed. Over at the Little Pink Book, I reviewed Not That Kind of Girl, which was not my kind of book. However, I’m happy to report that I very much adore The Locust and the Bird. I only wish I’d read that one first {a. because it is a phenomenal read and b. because they sent the advanced reader’s copy and the book just went on sale on August 25th. Oops, my bad.} My full review will be up at LPB this week.

{the sun rose one ribbon at a time}

I’m not sure what I love most about this photo. The amazing windows, the light shining in, the bay seating with all those inviting pillows, or the fact that this bombshell is holding a feathered fan for modesty. I want to live in this picture.

{friday finds: harmonie-intérieure}

For a time, Harmonie-intérieure wasn’t selling it’s decals, which made me very sad. I’m happy to report that they are once again selling these lovely creations. My problem now is that I can seem to pick which one I like best. Those flourishes would be lovely for my own use. I adore how whimsical the children’s decals are. {I believe munchkin’s room could benefit from the prince one.}

Great way to liven up a wall, especially if you live in an apartment that you can’t paint. Before you ask: yes, the ship internationally.

{btw}
On a separate note, I added google friend connect on the sidebar. I always love seeing your faces, so if you were following via friend connect on the old blog just sign-in on this one. {It shouldn’t duplicate the feed in your reader.}

{friday finds: whitten grey}

I love my little boy, but someday I’d like to have a girl. If I had a girl right now, I’d be snatching up these dresses from Whitten Grey. Besides making ridiculously adorable and chic dresses for girls, they make sure that the clothes are environmentally friendly. Wait, wait… there’s more. They have this thing called The Little Grey Dress project, where for each dress purchased they give a dress to a girl who needs one. {Kinda like Toms.} What?! An excuse to shop people, come on. It’s your moral duty.
